In the world
In our day, all concrete constructions in developed countries
are being built up by using ready mixed concrete. According to ERMCO (European
Ready Mix Concrete Organization) data, at present c.a. 300 m3 and c.a.
200 million m3 ready mixed concrete is being consumed annually in European
countries and in the US respectively. As economic and technological means
improve globally, this consumption is also being spread out to new fields.
For instance, air transport developed 75% during 1970-1990 and consequently
the number of passengers carried doubled. As a result of this development,
need for airports increased, new and more sophisticated airport structures
were built up, high-strength concretes with were employed. Similarly the
extraordinary improvement realized in land transport vehicles and means
necessitated the use of special concretes for the construction of roads,
bridges and tunnels and this requirement consequentially instigated the
production of new ready mixed concrete based solutions.
Ready mixed concrete production systems demonstrate differences
from country to country, due to climatic conditions. Approximately 1/3 of
the ready mixed concrete produced in Turkey is being produced through dry
process. If compared on pumped concrete amount basis, it can be seen that
with 85 %, Turkey is the country where pumps are most extensively used.
